A quietly powerful piece of post-war Irish art — a red barn nestled among lush summer trees, painted in 1945 by one of Belfast's most significant modern painters. Leslie Zukor (Belfast, 1921) was a Jewish artist of Eastern European descent whose work became central to a remarkable progressive art movement in post-war Ulster, exhibiting alongside celebrated figures including Gerard Dillon and Arthur Armstrong. His own words say it best: "I much prefer to look and observe — come away and paint only the memory, the fleeting impressions of what I saw." That philosophy is alive in every inch of this piece.

Sourced from an estate sale. Signed and dated 1945. An 80-year-old original in excellent condition. Ready to hang.
